The first true pilot watch. A masterpiece of usability, precision and reliability is back with the Watch Angels "Bauart", or design type.
Specified by history, executed for the future
The B-Watch is regarded as a special type of watch. An iconographic collector item, a watch for passionates which commands significant prices at auctions. For this reason it has remained unchanged over the last 70 years and has never really transitioned to the mainstream of pilot watches, despite the strong development of that segment in the watch industry. This makes the B-Uhr especially particularly delicate to approach and interpret.
In this new design type, the iconographic aspect has been resolved by not altering the purpose of the B-Uhr and therefore its specifications. What had to change though was the execution of such specifications. Each specification has been translated through the lens of today's technology and aesthetics. With this method the B-Uhr has finally been made like it would have been made today.

The specifications
Precision above all
The history of observation watches is part of the history of navigation and flight, and it starts at the end of the Middle Ages. Since then the single most important requirement has been precise time measurement to be able to determine location, in particular longitude.
Pilot usability
With both hands on the stick, pilots needed a different type of clock than sailors. They had to read time quickly, reliably and to the second. For this purpose the wartime B-Uhr specifications left nothing to chance. They previewed a graphically rigorous dial layout to read time, luminous material for night vision, chronometer performance, anti-magnetic properties, a stop second mechanism, a big crown to be operated with gloves, and all housed in a grey steel 55mm case.

The Watch Angels B-Uhr "Stealth"
To satisfy the precision requirement, the Watch Angels B-Uhr design type encases a COSC certified chronometer and is anti-magnetic by means of a a soft iron cage protecting the movement. Contrary to the historic models, it encases an automatic instead of a manual movement because the automatic offers a more consistent power delivery and therefore better overall precision.

For additional flight calculation needs, a chronograph movement has been encased instead of the traditional three hands and, in particular, a mono-pusher which is much easier and faster to operate than a traditional chronograph during flight.
The diameter has been reduced to 44mm because today's movement sizes and cockpit environments do not require the big watches of the past and because daily wearability was an important must have by the Watch Angels community.
Design particularities
The Watch Angels B-Uhr design type presents a certain number of design particularities:
Firstly, when the chronograph is not active, the look of the watch has exactly the same layout like the original1940's three hands watch.

In this same situation, the pilot can control that his watch is working by checking a running power on/off indicator by disk placed a 9 o'clock.

Secondly, the elapsed time marker on the 30min chronograph counter can be set by turning the bezel, which incidentally is convenient to operate with gloves, like its generous crown.
Finally, in order to provide a specifications conformity proof, the watch features an open sapphire case-back through which the soft iron core cage can be seen. On the military specifications are engraved directly on the anti-magnetic cage.

The dial design presents the very readable layout of the "Baumuster B" design with the 60 minutes on the exterior and the 12 hours on the interior. Night readability is assured by all print and hands in X1 grade Superluminova©
